Point-to-Multipoint 320

Wireless Broadband Network

Motorolaís first fixed outdoor 802.16e wireless broadband solution, the Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) 320, is a cost effective, licensed option for network operators looking to build or extend existing networks and achieve a rapid return on investment. WiMAX 802.116e interoperability enables reliable data, voice and video connectivity.

High performance

The PMP 320 offers full MIMO Matrix B support, with up to 45 Mbps of throughput in a 10 MHz channel, up to 65,000 Packets per Second (PPS) and long range, LOS and nLOS performance for business and residential connectivity in the 3 GHz licensed band.

Standards-based WiMAX Interoperability

The PMP 320 uses the 802.16e air interface (both MAC and PHY) to enable interoperability with WiMAX CPEs. Motorola also offers an Interoperability Testing (IOT) program to assist device manufacturers with an IOT test plan.

Low Complexity

Designed for fixed outdoor applications to inter-operate with WiMAX CPEs, the PMP 320 does not require the costly ASN gateway equipment associated with mobility functions.

Low Cost

The PMP 320 is an all-outdoor, integrated, single-board radio. This simple design is fast and easy to install with low power requirements and no requirement for the controlled environments associated with circuit boards.

More Bandwidth for More Users

License holders can use the PMP 320 to rapidly reach subscribers in low-density locations,
beyond the edge of their mobile WiMAX networks or in Greenfield environments without significant investment in the core network equipment associated with mobile connectivity.

The Point-to-Multipoint 320 is a cost-effective, easy to install, licensed, fixed, outdoor wireless broadband access network solution. WiMAX 802.16e interoperability enables reliable data, voice and video connectivity applications for service providers, enterprise network operators, and government entities.

To fully appreciate what makes the PMP 320 compelling, itís important to understand its unique specifications:

Optimized Operation

The PMP 320 operates in the following frequencies: 3.3 to 3.4 GHz; 3.4 to 3.6 GHz
(incl. 3.5 GHz); 3.6 to 3.8 GHz (incl. 3.65 GHz).

The PMP 320 is the lowest-cost, least-complex solution currently available for licensed multi-point networks, delivering the high performance and interoperability of WiMAX technology.

The PMP 320 operates in the following licensed frequencies:

  • 3.3 to 3.4 GHz
  • 3.4 to 3.6 GHz (including 3.5 GHz)
  • 3.6 to 3.8 GHz (including 3.65 GHz)

The PMP 320 provides:

  • Rapid Installation of Connectivity
  • Low-cost Infrastructure
  • 802.16e WiMAX CPE Compatibility
  • High Throughput
  • Long Range
  • nLOS Performance

Service providers can enhance their customer base and revenues by extending their network to reach new business and residential subscribers beyond the reach of wireline broadband offerings.

  • Complement existing broadband network to reach customers in new territories, whether adjacent to an existing network or a completely new region
  • Provide cost effective, rapidly deployable broadband connectivity to rural areas
  • Offer wireless broadband services to existing subscribers currently using dial-up; alternative to other equipment like DSL and cable

Enterprises can establish cost-effective links to campus locations or remote branch offices at a fraction of the cost of leasing lines or deploying wire line broadband systems.

  • Rapid access to business information between locations
  • Cost-effective; substantially less than cost of leased-line alternatives - no recurring monthly fee
  • Wireless infrastructure to connect indoor wireless local area network (WLAN), creating a completely wireless IP network and connecting inside to outside

Government Network Operators can establish cost-effective links for public safety, public service, and public access.

  • Rapidly deploy video surveillance and data connectivity for public safety
  • Create a cost effective data network for public works
  • Create an infrastructure for community wide public access
